Ovarian Dermoid Right Ovarian Dermoid Cyst Estimated reading: 1 minute 428 views Contributors Clinical History A 30-year old female presented with recent onset of lower abdominal pain with raised inflammatory markers. Ultrasound was requested to rule out appendicitis or ovarian cyst causing the pain. Case Description On ultrasound, the appendix was normal. However, there was a 37 mm heterogeneous, non-vascular, echogenic lesion (ovarian dermoid cyst) in the right adnexa attached to the right ovary suggestive of an ovarian dermoid. The lesion was seen to be attached to a normal right ovarian tissue. The otherwise normal left ovary contained a small collapsing corpus luteum with some associated mild free fluid in the pouch of Douglas, secondary to this. Diagnosis/ Discussion/ Treatment/ Follow up The patient was managed conservatively with the lesion being monitored six-monthly for 2 years, with follow up ultrasound scans (TA and TV) showing stable appearances.
